Hey everyone! We know its been a while since you have heard about our project called ANTF Nebula. Today I would finally like to show you what the desktop looks like! This screenshot was taken during the most recent debug and we opened the media center, app center, and media notification bubble just to give you an idea. Ignore the button in the top left corner that says s"show reg". That is temporary and will be removed during the final release. We are about 60% of the way done with Nebula and hope to release sometime this spring! We wanted to release it this month but I was hit with alot of tragedy & a tough college course this semester, hopefully I will be able to get development back on track soon.. I also apologize if the text in the image is fuzzy. The machine its developed on has 4 monitors attached to it so when you take a screenshot, it takes all the screens and then we have to cut out the part we want and sometimes that messes with the image. Anyway, Nebula biggest breakthrough right now is its new registry system that can update account information in real time and can create, modify, delete user accounts, know admins from regular users, and it even supports ANTF's business platform which is essentially the ability to have network accounts that are controlled by an admin (server/client) Its this level of functionality as to why Nebula's development has been sooo slow, but it will be worth it in the end. Let us know what you think or should add perhaps. We love feedback

Hi are all these applications (disk burn, ofice suite, file exploration etc) created anew in VB.NET or are they links to Windows or 3rd parties programs?

some are 3rd party programs like the disc burn and explorer is the windows shell, as well as webcam and security app which is defined by user, steam/origin, team viewer are also 3rd party. Internet, alarm, binary conv, calc, writer (my notepad), stickies, drawx, music, video, pictures, health are all created by me. As time goes on i plan to integrate my own disk software and eventually explorer. We tried 7 times to make a robust explorer but could not lol. So as far as 3rd party apps go that are built in, such as the ones listed above, some come with Nebula bundled in install, and others like steam/origin, and security rely on the fact that you have those things installed, if not they simply wont run. Our main focus is making sure nebula works right out of the gate and if we have to use a few 3rd party freeware applications to do it we will. The problem with alot of VB interfaces these days is that they have the looks down, some are downright beautiful, but they all lack functionality or "usefulness". We plan to make sure its useful to everyone. Our last interface we released years ago called Spectrum had a similar approach and it was successful. It had 683 downloads, and a local school used it for an interface concepts class (which we were impressed to find out). So to answer your question, yes most are 3rd party but as time goes on we will add and replace them with first party applications. I hope that answers your question, sorry for the long post, I just wanted to explain why we chose to integrate them in.

Regarding the Explorer, if you want i can share my project with you. It is a fully working disk explorer that recognizes 5 kinds of files and sends them to the relevant applications. Have a look at the image here: ademontis.wixsite.com/aero/extrasAero is my 'masterpiece' which i am modifying to produce VeraOS, it has over 30 VB.NET original applications including the explorer / stack

Thanks, we will certainly look at it,.. if it only supports 5 file types, what does it do when it encounters a different one? Currently we modified Windows explorer dialog to handle all apps and internally recognize about18-21 different file types. Could we modify yours to produce those results? Im currently out of my office so i have not looked at your Link yet but i plan to. It would be nice to finally break away from explorer after all these years

If someone accidentally chooses the wrong path or the environment, it causes a thousand errors and you can't make another account to get around it, and you have no recovery do wipe settings to deal with the issue. Also removing and unzipping application somewhere else does not fix it. Consider a recovery console in the future

Update: we decided to slow down and add some first party apps. We have just developed a rudimentary explorer, an advanced zip/unzip/batch zip software, IO app, and a youtube magnet player/manager we also ported them to windows UI so we can also eventually offer them as stand-alone apps

Aero is developed to avoid any harm to the system and all links in the vbOS are relative, not absolute, so no parts of Aero can cause malfunctions to the others.

I agree, I finally got Aero to run but every application inside either has an error, force closes, and when I close a program it errors. Aero seems kinda broken my friend, but the interface is cool. Now you just need to work on stability & compatibility. Perhaps using Try statements to catch errors.
